The 40 Year Old Virgin, starring Steve Carell, is a story about a middle aged man, Andy Stitzer, who is a virgin and his attempts to lose it.
This movie has you laughing within the first 10 minutes, and holds your attention all the way through. After having seen this movie three times I still don’t feel any sort of review can do justice to this movie.
During a hilarious game of poker, between Andy and his friends the truth comes out about Andy’s personal life. One of his friends, Romany Malco, Jay pledges to help Andy lose his virginity. Through the course of a couple days Andy rearranges his apartment, gets waxed, drunk, and high. It is all done very well, and I was quite honestly impressed with the directors, Judd Apatow, camera angles, and his writing style.
This movie is not one to take the kids to, and it’s not one I’ll take my grandma to anytime soon either. Keeping the fact that this movie IS about virginity (and Andy’s pursuit to lose it) obscenities, brief nudity, and some mature scenes are to be expected. |
