The email I received told me that if I joined Peerflix I would get a free DVD. It did not say "join somone's friends list". There was a referral link in the email inviting me to join Peerflix, even though I am already a member. To me when an email has a referral link, it's a referral email.
Spam is defined as unsolicited email. See
http://www.spamhaus.org/definition.html for more info. I have strong objections to spam and have had to resort to paying for a service that offers advanced filters just so I can try to get my mailbox down to a manageable level.
I didn't sign up to receive unsolicited emails when I joined PFT, nor do I recall reading anything in the TOS saying it was ok to send it. I am sorry if the person who sent it is offended, but I won't apologize for mentioning the email here in the forums. The email address was obtained from my account here, not anywhere else.
Did I post the content of the email? No.
Did I post the person's email address? No.
Did I post their last name? No.
Did I say doudouce55 send the email? No. In fact I searched the member list and saw nobody named Frencesca, so I had no idea which member sent it, assuming that person was still an active member here.
Normally it's frowned upon to send unsolicited email. So I point out that someone is sending it, and I'm the one who is flamed. lol  I learn something new about the Net every day.
And it's true I don't use Peerflix's friends list. I swap DVDs with friends in person. The breakage rate is too high for me to risk my friends' DVDs getting broken in the mail, and in-person swaps are completely free.
