My son and I had this discussion the other day--which of these would last and which would go the way of Betamax videotapes. We're inclined to lean toward Blu-ray being the winner, even though HD-DVD might have slightly better quality because of Sony's clever ploy in including Blu-Ray DVD capacity in the PS3. Also, he bought himself the Pirates of the Caribbean movies on Blu-ray the other day, and the fact that Disney opted for Blu-Ray rather than HD-DVD speaks volumes. Companies are going to choose one or the other, I think, rather than both formats, and it could be interesting. | ||

| I'd say that Blu-Ray will win out. The selection of movies for both formats isn't all that great yet, but it's getting better. Having Disney plus Sony's own films from Columbia, like the Spider-Man series, will help. I'm probably biased though because I have a Playstation 3 myself. I would have been in the HD-DVD camp if my XBOX 360 hadn't died. I'm glad I never bought the add on player for that. | ||
