Cartoon movies

No! No! I'm not referring to Finding Nemo or Ice Age... I am referring to movies based on cartoons like X-Men, Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Catwoman..yada yada yada.... Of late, I'm noticing lots of movies being made based on cartoons... Could this mean that producers are losing their creativity?

I've no complains about the movies though.. it's nice to finally see Catwoman in flesh...

Yeah, the film industry's going the same way as the music industry has gone really, because on the whole people just want something easily digestable.

In context to comedy, Bill Hicks put it best when he said (and I'm paraphrasing, as I am sans quote as I am right here) "A lot of comedy you just switch off and laugh at the jokes, but good comedy actually engages the audience, raises questions and makes them think, whereas the very best comedy does all of that, but it also offers up some answers too". That might need adaptation for movies, but the concept's pretty much the same in my opinion... And we all know how much airtime one-note joke blowers get on the airwaves and the like nowadays...

In your opinion, which are better: cartoon-based movies or novel-based movies? Both can be read before a movie is made...
