Do movie reviews have impact on you?

I was just looking at some high-definition movie previews and reading reviews... and a question popped up in my head - do movie reviews influence your decision to actually watch or skip a certain movie?

Let's break it down to critics' and users' reviews. Which, if any, have impact on your decision-making process?

Best,

I have to say that I do read many reviews from both critics and moviegoers.

I usually always read the reviews in People magazine and I also read the review from Roger Ebert. I am always interested in what they have to say. I really enjoy Ebert's reviews because I feel he is fair and explains in depth about his opinion.

I also like to read reviews from other moviegoers as long as they provide good reasons for how they feel.

While reviews do have an influence on my desire to see a movie, I make the final decision myself. I know that sometimes a movie is REALLY good (in my opinion) but is hated by movie critics.

However, if I hear lots of talk about how GOOD or how BAD a movie is (by both critics and moviegoers)... this often does have an impact.

reviews don't influence me.
well, i may be lying. reviews from the village voice do influence me. but mostly because they review the kind of movies i like to go see. i prefer to bypass most of the stuff that passes for movies lately and get to what i consider the good stuff. if it's entitled "Popular Crap 10"... it's a sure thing i'm not gonna put it on my list of "must sees".

Nah, I often disagree with critics anyway.

I do like to read reviews from regular people that have seen the movie. But I don't really let it influence what I will see in the end. I have missed some great movies in the past because I have listened to reviews.

As a general rule, if it gets bad reviews-I will most likely think its great. LOL
On the rare occasion, a movie that got a bad review is one that I didn't like also.

The only reviewer I pay any attention to is Roger Ebert. One, his reviews are good reading just as pieces, and I like his insights into films. If he says something is good, it almost always is!

movie reviews have an impact

With movies being as expensive as they are in Montreal, I won't take a chance until I've spoken to a friend or read a review. Even if I like something different than the critics, just reading about what they hated or loved will give me some idea of what to expect from the movie.

Reviewers can save you some money ...that's why I stick with one that I trust. I used to read so many movie critics and decided there were a bunch of them I so disagreed with most of the the time that I quit lol.

I don't usually even read a reviewer's comments, so I'd have to say, "No" a reviewer's comments don't affect me in the least. I watch what I want to watch, and will listen to friends who have seen a movie more than anyone else.
