If you had your own movie channel...

If you owned a cable movie channel, what movies would you have showcased and why?

Please create a playlist of 10 movies that you see playing on your channel on a regular day/week to give us a taste.

Cronus, so what would be a general theme/direction of your channel? Its hard to have the same audience for Schindler's List and the Lion King... Marketing would definitely be a challenge.

Indeed it would
Ok going in that direction would have to take away lion king
would proberly add the last samurai.
Looking at all those would proberly advertise it as like a bachelors movie channel , plenty of fighting but thrown in with a little bit thinking.
Althouhg that may to small a niche market to be aiming for

Cronus, a bachelors movie channel is actually a fantastic idea, and I would have definitely subscribed to it! I think the chosen audience is not "small" at all - there are plenty of media servicing the niche, and its only been improving its bottom lines - both TV, print and Internet wise. I also love the phrasing: plenty of fighting with a little bit of thinking.
In all seriousness, I love the idea, and I think it can do very well.

My Own Movie Channel

Many kids today have never seen:

The Thing
The Creature From The Black Lagoon
The Manster
I Was A Teenage Werewolf
The Incredible Shrinking Man

I could go on and on.

I would probably show all old movies on my own tv channel.

That plus new age stuff about Atlantis, pyramids, mythology, etc..

Good choice, Jeff. I would have a Comedy/Romance Channel but that would play really great comedies of 1990-early 2000s mostly (they simply don't make comedies like they did before). A playlist would be something like:

The Muse
The Groundhog Day
Analyze This
Bruce Almighty
Wedding Crashers
Swingers
Rat Race
etc

You know, the public all-time favorites...

Your Own Cable Channel

Boy you aren't going back very far.

It sounds like you think things have deteriorated in the last two or three years.

Later.

But it did, didn't it? I think the movies in the past 2 years have been just horrible. I used to go see movies a lot, but in the last 2 years I probably got out 2-3 times (apart from film festivals). The movies Hollywood produces today are just not worth the ticket price.
