Movie Prices

I was just wondering if anyone else is tired of paying so much to go see a movie when it first comes out? Not only the price of seeing the movie is up there but holy cow the price of refreshments is absolutly ridiculous. I know that this has stopped me from going to see so many movies at the theatre. So what do you all think. Is it getting to exspensive already or when do you feel it would be to costly for you to go see a movie at the theatre?

We're very lucky to have second run theatre that only costs $3 for admission. We wait a little bit longer to see movies (maybe 2-3 weeks from release) but it's completely worth it to pay so little. Otherwise, I completely rely on our online rental service to fill the gaps! For about $10 a month we get a lot of rentals.

I used to live my a movie theatre that was really cheap but we have since moved and there is not one in my area. Wish there was because I do enjoy going to the theatre but it is just so darn exspensive anymore.

We rent or pay per view most of the time. We do take our 7 year old to the movies more often though. Then we try to go on discount days or matinees.

We try to go on the cheap nights (Monday through Thursday) when the prices are slightly more reasonable, and we only go a few times a year for movies we can't wait for.

That's my thing I have a seven and a five year old so we do go see more movies now. Just wish we had one of those places that played them really cheaply around us.

The closest "cheap seat" theater is over an hour away,so we generally don't go to the movies that often. They have matinee prices, which are around $4.50 each, but it doesn't help THAT much. I wish they'd bring the prices down, too. But, I guess it's like gasoline, the price isn't likely to come back down.

Even taking the kids to a matinée is expensive at the regular theater! It's like $5.25 apiece. We do a lot of making our living room into a movie theatre which gets rid of some of the little ones boredom too!

Ticket prices are in the vicinity of $8-9 right now (evening prices) Thus, my husband and I only go when it is a movie we REALLY want to see. We don't go to dinner beforehand to save on money, and my MIL sits with my son. (we leave after we put him down for bed) I usually sneak in some candy in my purse and we buy one gigantic drink to share. It is still close to $25 for both of us to go!
