Why do the Hollywood studios feel they just need to remake other countries films instead of buying the movies of the country in question,a good example is the french movies,living in belgium i get to see many of them and have to admit they do a great job, well take the film 'the Visitors' for example, the original is a best seller in France and a very funny movie about two characters who by drinking a weird potion find themselves suddenly in our days instead of the medieval time they come from,it's realy good as played in the french country side and towns who were medieval in the passed as it's their true history, and the fact that it is in france is essentiel to realy get all the fun and details.Now then the USA buy the script (keep the french actors) and turn it into the visitors in New York which is ridiculous from the start and realy turn it into crap unstead of keeping the real film and just dubbing it. They always do that and i realy find that it isn't correct (let american movies have the american taste that's what we like in them, but by god's sake stop trying to americanize what isn't) What id the french remade terminator and stuck him a beret and baguette under the arm!

But it's a good point, the worst Americanisation I've seen was the US pilot of Red Dwarf... Lister, who in the UK version was played by a short, tubby Scouser, was recast as a big muscular American, with very white teeth... Doesn't really work when a lot of the humour is derived from how much of a slob he is... Even when they copied jokes that worked from the UK pilot (which the plot was based upon) word for word, it still wasn't funny... Just clone Charlie Kaufmann, at the very least the scripts created will be interesting, if a little crazy...

| Well, that was kinda done, it was an American film with Atkinson as Bean, which wasn't that good either...

| lol! I know the terminator image is a bit big, but I see you got the point, another frech -american disaster is 3 men and a baby (3hommes et un couffin) in french, well why did they need to Americanize that one too to do just Exactly the same thing, realy they only realy did change the actors, or what was that other one i realy enjoyed, oh yes '9 months', the original was yet more a great french film and even putting Hugh Grant in the remake ( i like him a lot but ..)didn't make it half asfun as it usualy was!
