Seriously considering on going to see the new Pirates. My baby is 2 weeks old now. I think she will do well!

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but as a movie goer that doesn't have kids, it makes me cringe to see babies too young to understand a movie in a theater. Sometimes action movies can be so loud that it even hurts my ears, I can't imagine how it feels to an infant. Just one upset baby can ruin a film for a whole theater of people. Again, not to sound critical, I'm just airing my thoughts on experiences I've had.

That was the beauty of a drive-in. And the more modern ones transmitted the sound track over the radio so you didn't have to have that clunky sound thing dangling in your window. I miss drive-ins--they were so great for family outings.

We had a drive-in one town over from us. I remember mom and dad taking us on nights when it was just a couple of dollars a carload and the parking lot would be packed. We had a station wagon and mom would fold down the backseat and when we got tired us kids would just stretch out and go to sleep (which we rarely did, but going to the movies was a rare treat for us back then).

I do agree though, the sound was horrible and the car did reek of popcorn for weeks after. But, to us it was worth it.

You would sit comfortably at the table and be able to sip cofee and eat pastry or something more substantial while watching a movie. As far as I know, we don't have such a thing in North America. Even in Prague it was mostly the artsier films that played in this type of theatre.
This sounds like a really cool idea. Kind of like the cafe' / bookstore thing we have here now, but only with movies. I'm not sure I could imagine it going mainstream though, but you never know.

I have to agree. I love my kids and wanted them to be with me wherever I went, but not to the movies, especially when they were babies. Not only couldn't I enjoy the movie (b/c I had to tend to their needs) neither could the people around me. And when you pay over 10 bucks a pop, per person to see a movie, you wanna enjoy it. JMHO

The trick to that was if you were going for a make-out session, you chose a movie you'd already seen so when your parents asked about it, you could tell them.

LOL! Guess that would of been better than my "ohh it was a stupid movie" line when my parents asked me about the movie. hehe

There are two drive in's left in our state and they are more geared toward the adults which is too bad. I still remember going to see Grease at the drive in when I was a kid.
