yoz! quite a number of games are hitting onto the big screens! the recent Doom is one of them! It's quite an old game, since 1993, wonder why the sudden revival?

Its some of the first, "first person shooters" that create a hunger for shoot'em games.
And it had a few different installations and of course it was some of the few that actually made it to current times.

Many first person shooters from the 90s have faded away without a trace.
But Doom stays strong.

I'd say the fact that Doom 3 was released about a year ago would be more of a factor in getting it in the public eye... The amount of prolonged hype surrounding that game was insane...

Probably because Uwe Boll's getting funding again . Have you seen how many game-to-film conversions this guys made? It a shame that they're all without exception total crap.

On a more serious note, games have been steadily growing in profile for the past decade and it's now a seriously huge industry, and Hollywood studios have never turned down the chance to make a quick buck yet, so why start now?

I agree, a good game does not translude into a good movie.
Most of these are just the quick buck thing and gives poor results.
Things like Lord of the Rings which was converted from the novels are well planned releases.
Would Resident Evil fit in? I personally don't know.

I loved to play Street Fighter when I was a kid ( uptil version II the rest were just money making schemes )
I did not understand why Guile was the main character here... I thought it was always Ryu and Ken...

yeah i agree they realy did blow it up on that one, it was just sooo thick! I too loved the game I had played for hours; over and over again and was expecting a lot from the film....i remenber going to see it at the movies with my best friend at the time and we both agreed on the fact that it had nothing to do with the game we both adored
