Smile Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Anyone else really looking forward to this? With one of the finest, daftest books in the world as source material and the fine talents of Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy, Stephen Fry and Bill Bailey participating, how can it possibly go wrong?

I have to admit that I have yet to read the book, that the movie is based on. But after seeing the trailer for the movie and reading about it, it makes me interested in getting it. If I am able to get to the library soon, I will probably pick up a copy of the book. And if I enjoy the book, I will try and get to the theater to see the movie, when it is released.

I'm too lazy to read books but I sure do enjoy the movies made out of them... The movie concises the gist and put it into motion... Great for lazy person like me...

Is there a UK release date attached to it yet?

Looking forward to seeing something this daft and full of talent on the big screen for a change

Niiice, think i'll go down see it on the Monday after seeing as I have the day off... Just looking forward to having some Bill Bailey in a film, even if it's only a voice from what I've heard

I couldn't agree more. Ever since Black Books started I've been a huge fan of Bill Bailey. As you say he will only be doing a voice cameo in Hitch-hiker's but it's long overdue. Still the rest of the cast reads like a who's who of British comedy talent so it should be a good laugh all round

Martin Freeman .... Arthur Dent
Sam Rockwell .... Zaphod Beeblebrox
Mos Def .... Ford Prefect
Zooey Deschanel .... Tricia McMillan ("Trillian")
Bill Nighy .... Slartibartfast
Anna Chancellor .... Questular Rontok
John Malkovich .... Humma Kavula
Warwick Davis .... Marvin the Paranoid Android
Alan Rickman .... Marvin the Paranoid Android (voice)
Stephen Fry .... The Book (voice)
Bill Bailey .... The Whale (voice)
Richard Griffiths .... Jeltz, Vogon Captain (voice)
Helen Mirren .... Deep Thought (voice)
Steve Pemberton .... Mr. Prosser

Not sure who Zooey Deschanel is but the name looks promising

Not quite a who's who, there's no Dylan Moran, Simon Pegg or Jessica Stevenson, but then again, I wouldn't chuck them in for the sake of it... I'm interested in seeing Mos Def in this, when I saw him on a music channel a few years back he didn't seem like the acting type, let alone the Hitchhiker's Guide type...

On an unrelated note, I always enjoy Alan Rickman too, so there's another plus point for me that I forgot...

Well maybe I was exaggerating a little when I said a "who's who". But I stand by the statement - it's still got a fairly broad range of talent, from the sublime Stephen Fry to John Malkovich to Steve "League of Gentlemen" Pemberton, so there's really something for everyone.

Finally saw this last night and it's everything I'd hoped for - One of the funniest, daftest, most surreal films I've seen in a very long time.

Best performances go to the voices of Alan Rickman as the manically depressed robot Marvin and Bill Bailey as a whale - it only lasts 30 seconds but it's probably the funniest scene in the entire film

Definitely one to go and see.
