War of the Worlds

Quote:
H.G. Wells' tale of a Martian invasion of Earth was first published in 1898 and then made famous by Orson Welles and his Mercury Theater troupe, who performed a version of it live on the radio in 1938. Tom Cruise stars in this Steven Spielberg-directed adaptation of the story.
Saw a trailer for this movie today. Was a fairly good trailer infact... because even though I have no doubt in my mind that the movie will just be another typical end of the world high-budget hollywood epic, I still want to see it

I have been waiting to see this movie ever since i heard about it, and i hope it lives up to my expectations, i am going to go and find the trailer now.

But i think it iwll be a great movie, because steven speilberg is probably the best director of these types of movies, and tom cruice is a great actor.

I've personally always had a bit of a problem with Steven Spielberg. Nothing to do with the man's film-making skills, I just wish he wouldn't filll up every film he makes with enough overblown sentimentality to drown most of europe. I can never watch a Spielberg film post Indiana Jones without the nagging feeling that I'm supposed to be crying for this character. Maybe I'm just dead inside...

Hopefully he will forget that for this and get back to doing what he does best.
