Perhaps I'm the only one, but is anyone else having trouble accepting Daniel Craig as the new James Bond? It's not just that he's blond. He doesn't seem to have the same easy charm and humour of some other Bonds. I would have preferred Hugh Jackman in the role. I don't remeber why he didn't take it or get it in the end.

| I have to agree that I just can't see Bond as being blonde. My favorite Bond from the "newer" era is Pierce Brosnan. My other favorite Bond is Sean Connery. I think he was incredibly sexy as Bond. Blonde just *doesn't* work, IMO. I am not sure why Hugh Jackman didn't take the role. I am not sure how I see him in the role, though, either. I still see him as being one of the X-men! | ||

| I thought he did a great job. "Casino Royale" was the best Bond film probably since "Goldeneye". And both were directed by Martin Campbell. Obviously Connery will always be seen as the best Bond. Roger Moore wasn't bad, but his movies were. Timothy Dalton was a mistake. And Pierce Brosnan...eh, he's the same in every movie he's in. And that last Bond movie of his, "Die Another Day", was one of the worst films I've ever seen. They tried to write the story around the gadgets. That's what was refreshing about "Casino Royale", no gadgets, just Bond's toughness and wits. Supposedly, Christian Bale was the top choice, but he chose to play Batman instead. And knowing that he'd have a series of those films to make, it would interfere with MGM's desire to put out a Bond movie every two or three years. I'm guessing Bale picked Batman because of director Christopher Nolan's involvement. Jackman may have had similar difficulties with the "X-Men" series and his own "Wolverine" spinoff movie. Plus, he's Australian, not English. That reminds me though, he's a movie star...why is he on a tv series this fall?! You have to remember that "Casino Royale" is Bond's first mission as a 00 agent. He made some mistakes and paid for them, but he'll learn from them. With each sequel he'll likely be more polished. He had changed some by the end of the movie already. Hair color to me isn't an issue. If you don't like him because of his hair color then your opinion of the movie is already made up before you see it. | ||

Ah, but you see, I'm not thinking of the Jackman everybody knows from X-men but the Jackman that once played opposite Meg Ryan in a rather light romantic comedy called Kate and Leopold. He was debonair, charming and romantic.

Ahhh... much better reference for me. I really enjoyed Kate and Leopold. I think he is very charming and romantic. But, he doesn't seem to have that dangerous "edge" that I associate with James Bond.

| Jackman might have too much range then to have ever been Bond. All the other Bond actors have been defined by the role. Connery will always be known as the best Bond. Moore will only be known for playing Bond. Dalton will be known as the worst Bond. Brosnan will be known as the guy that should have been Bond sooner. Lazenby is the forgotten Bond. Brosnan even ends up playing a spy in some of his non-Bond movies (The Tailor of Panama, The Matador). Jackman can go for the chick-flicks like "Kate and Leopold" and that one with Ashley Judd, or for the action flicks like "Swordfish" and "X-Men" and dramas like "The Prestige" and "The Fountain". But given his resemblance to a young Clint Eastwood, I'd rather see him make a "Dirty Harry" type movie. | ||

| I will agree that I am willing to wait until the next one only because it was his first and it just might take some getting used to because he just doesn't resemble past Bonds. Please tell me the Olsen twins are a rumor. That would be awful to see. | ||
