Golden Glodes or Oscars?

So.. which awards show is your favorite?

For me, the Golden Globes is my favorite without question. One, I like that they combine TV and movies. Two, I like having all of the celebrities sitting around tables and eating. (and drinking!) They just seem to be more relaxed.

The Oscars are SO stuffy!! (though, Ellen did a great job hosting this year!)

I like the Golden Globes better myself also. I will have to say that I hope that they keep Ellen for next years Oscars because I feel that she did an awesome job.

I think both the viewers and the actors have more fun with the Golden Globes ...it's just more relaxed and everyone can have a drink lol.

Ellen? Dunno if I can agree with you all. She was okay but I thought she got tiresome after a bit. Billy Crystal was my all time favorite, but I sort of like them mixing it up with different people. Steve Martin was good too, but I think alot of people don't appreciate his humour like I do.

You are right about Billy Crystal. He was SO good as the host!! I love when he rode a horse onstage (in spoof of "City Slickers") I just really like his comedy style. City Slickers is still one of my favorite comedies.

My vote goes for Billy as well. His delivery seems more spontaneous, less self-conscious than Ellen's. He can also laugh at himself without seeming totally self-deprecating.

I don't generally watch the awards shows. They're generally just a platform for people to espouse their political views. That's not what I want to see.

The political opinions have gotten a little old. I to this day refuse to see The Pianist because when Adrian Brody made his politically charged speech upon winning an Oscar, he infuriated me. I will not watch anything with him in it. I feel the same about Alec Baldwin.

I usually only watch any award show for a little while and then toddle off to bed and read the results in the morning. They just all go on for waaaay too long for me.

You're so right that they can get quite long. I to don't care to hear the personal political agendas of the stars. The one thing I do like to watch on both though is the red carpet preshow. I enjoy that the most.

I only watch the Oscars. The Golden Globes just don't seem to count. There are so many categories that pretty much every actor has won one already. The Oscars are more exclusive. They need to eliminate about 75% of the awards from the televised show though and just count on the actors, directors and songs. Nobody cares about the "Best animated short film", and the people that win for that sort of thing have the longest speeches.

I preferred it when Steve Martin, Chris Rock and Jon Stewart hosted the Oscars rather than Ellen, Whoopi Goldberg or Billy Crystal. They just seemed more sharp and funny. Conan O'Brien would be my next choice to be the host.
