older actors

I just realized that some of the actors that I now like and find interesting didn't impress or move me as much when they were younger. They have more dimension and depth, and I actually find them more attractive now that when they were cute and unlined. I prefered Redford in Horse Whisperer and in some of his other more recent movies than in many of his earlier films. Same applies to Harrison Ford. I think Sean Connery acquired more charm and warmth as he aged. Are there any others that you prefer now that they're older.

I can't think of any specifically off the top of my head, but you're right! Some actors and actress are like fine wine....get better with age!

Some actors I've never even heard of until they were older, like Ian McKellan.

I think some older actors are good, but it's almost sad to see others when you're so used to seeing them in their prime. Paul Newman for one, he's just not the same. What bugs me is when they're over 60 and yet they go get a face lift. They always look surprised! It doesn't make them look any younger, just dumber. Michael Douglass, Robert Redford, Peter O'Toole and of course Burt Reynolds really stand out as examples.

Oh Sean Connery, definitely a fave in my book! And Harrison Ford has done much better quality work since he's gotten older, in my opinion. I really can't think of any other actors that I've appreciated more as they age, for whatever reason.

I have a lot of respect for older actors and actresses who have proven their mettle over the years. Dustin Hoffman comes to my mind as does Robert DeNiro. Women are trickier- there's such a double standard so a lot of the older actresses you see are trying so hard to look younger than they are. Diane Keaton has just recently started to take roles which reflect her age.

Although I liked them when they were young I would have to say Katherine Hepburn and Robert Redford.

Michael Douglas is the first one I think of ..people like Connery, Hoffman, etc. I've liked from the beginning of seeing their work.

Do you think it's their age that gives them "dimension" or the roles that they're forced to play now that they're not spring chickens or roosters anymore? I think it's a combination of the two.

Dustin Hoffman has been fantastic from the get-go and he just keeps getting better. I absolutely love his work and he has one of the greatest grins ever!

Here is my list. Of course, I don't know the age cutoff for "older". There are many actors who I like better now that they are in their late 30's/40s vs. in their 20s.

Robert Redford
Harrison Ford
Sean Connery
George Clooney
Brad Pitt

I know George and Brad might not be considered "older". But, I enjoy their movies now SO MUCH MORE than I enjoyed their movies when they were in their 20s.
