What's your view on this whole Tom Cruise thing at the moment?

Just wondering what people thought about the abnormal amount of publicity the man seems to be getting right now. We all know about the whole Katie Holmes love/stunt depending on your point of view, but I've been unable to get away from it recently. First there was the thing at the War of the Worlds premiere with the water squirting 'incident', now i'm reading a frankly pointless news item about him having an arguement with some American talkshow host. It's debatable as to how much of this is planned, but somewhere there must be a marketing guy who can't believe his luck.

The whole engagement must be one of the most blatantly publicity seeking things I've heard in a long while... Here's how I envisage the telephone conversation going between Tom and his publicist:

PUBLICIST
Hi Tom, just calling you to let you know about how people are reacting to you and Katie. It's all over the media, but I think people are on to us, there's talk that it seems "unnaturally sudden"...

TOM
Dammit, what can we do about it?

PUBLICIST
I was thinking cooling it off a bit over the course of the next couple of months would keep it a bit more plausible.

TOM
Or... I could ask her to marry me on top of the Eiffel Tower!

PUBLICIST
No Tom, that's too much, people don't want to hear about the two of you being involved with something else outrageous again...

TOM
It'll be great, then everyone'll believe it

PUBLICIST
I don't think that would be...

TOM
[cutting in] Then when we come down we'll announce it to the waiting paperazzi!

PUBLICIST
You're gonna screw it up for...

TOM
[cutting in] Oh, it'll be great!

PUBLICIST
It won't, Tom...

TOM
I'll book the limo now!

PUBLICIST
Tom? Tom? Aww, dammit...

Dont forget..

Tom: So what should I do to revive my flagging popularity?

Scientology Elder: Well whatever you do make sure you mention us and get more members. *smacks Tom with the alien wand*

Tom: Ow. Oh I know! I could get married! That will start all kinds of gossip especially
if shes young and hot!

Scientolgy Elder: Is she a Scientologist?

Tom: No but she will be. *evil grin*

Scientology Elder: Can you get Cher and Madonna? We've always liked them. They'd
make a great pair of clams.

Tom: I'll try. *kisses L. Ron Hubbards petrified fake tentacle*

Yeah I dont like Tom much.

Well when someone gets overly popular it would get irriating to see him smacked in front of every magazine and the papers every day.
Sure he looks good and all, but well I personally would like to see him act rather than know about his love life.

Well what can I say?

Only that he is very popular!

I think Tom Cruise is a really good Actor. I've liked his acting in the following movies:

*War of the Worlds
*Collateral
*Mission: Impossible

I preferred him in The Last Samurai.
The way War of the World was filmed, really placed me on a bad image for the actors...
But the Last Samurai had me on my toes. Hope he does more good ones
