Movie prices VS buying the DVD

I don't know about you, but the drop in DVD players prices and also the drop in DVD prices makes it starting to be not worth the effort going to the movies anymore.

I get gather my family and we site infront of the TV screen and that would make the price of the DVD cheaper than the tickets for everyone in the group...

What do you think?

Unless its a blockbuster like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars or Spiderman, if not I wait for either a VCD or DVD.
Why waste the money?

In my case it's often for something to do... Don't go that regularly, but if there's something decent on, I'll take a wander.

Still have a fairly large gap to fill on my "DVDs I want" list though...

Well... the effects are not there as compared to the big screen. even with a home theatre system, nothing beats a good theatre.
But still, if its the casual no rating film, I will stick to the DVD.

I never realy go to the movies except on rare occasions (last in date the four fantastic and I should of known better)so I realy are a dvd person and yes I have to agree that I prefer paying to have a movie at home than pay to see it once , then finaly have to pay again for getting the dvd later in the run.
By the time it's released on dvd you have had the time to hear all the critics and see if it's worth buying or not.

For me there is no substitute for a wide screen and the ambiance of an actual movie house where you are with the company of movie goers with the usual scene like eating pop corns, friends, families and lovers in bonding mood.

If it wasn't for the Cinemark Theater nearby, I'd be discouraged from going to the theaters too. But with 24 big screens, great popcorn and just a nice drive to it, it makes seeing a movie an event. Plus, getting away from everyone for two hours is a lot easier in a movie theater than it is at home. The movies that I see at the theater are ones that I'm sure I'll like. With DVD, I'll take some chances on movies since I can always just turn it off if I don't like it.

It is always nice to go out and watch a movie instead of watching at home. It breaks your routinary life and helps re energize yourself. Given modern technology in movie houses like sound and effects, it makes as if you're part of the movie.
