Are projectors good?

I was thinking of setting up a home theatre system for me and my wife and of course my two kids and thought that since Plasma and LCD maybe harmfull to their eyes, I though of getting a projector, linking it to my Computer and then do a projectionso we can watch DVDs and VCDs,

Would that be a good idea? Any recomendations?

Well, I suggest that maybe you could watch it in an Air-conditioned room.
But then, 1 Projector, Air Con system, DVD with surrong sound system. Carpetted walls. And since its a carpetted room you may want a air filter system too to get rid of all that dust....

You may have to watch movies every day for 10 years before it will even off... By then some of it may have alrady spoilt... is it really worth it?

You're welcome... Although it would be very nice to have a home theater. So expensive though.

If your sole purpose is for watching movie, I don't think buying LCD projectors is practical though acquisiton cost has considerably become more affordable. For me having a Plasma TV for home viewing is still more gratifying because it is made for that purpose.
