I saw a sneak preview tonight, 6/6/05, in Dallas, TX and I was thoroughly impressed with the epic scope of the story, the limited use of CGI, and most importantly, the dark tone which took it miles away from (and thankfully so) 1997’s train wreck, Batman & Robin.
The only complaint I had was the shaky camera work during the fight scenes. Add Begins to a long list of films that give the shaft to their choreographer and put the lens on spin-cycle during any hand-to-hand fest. Do directors really think that bouncing the camera around and quick edits make for an engaging fight scene? To me it's a sloppy give-up! Come on Chris, I'd like to actually see the Batman kick some ***! Other than this unfortunate casualty, the movie delivers the dark knight fans have been begging for. And the ending is one of the most fun and tantalizing in recent memory! Definitely worth your $8.50. |
