The film starts off New Year’s Eve aboard the luxury cruise ship Poseidon. It begins by introducing you to the eight main characters: A card player (Josh Lucas); an ex-firefighter (Kurt Russell); his daughter (Emmy Rossum) and her fiancé (Mike Vogel); a single mother (Jacinda Barrett) and her 8-year old son (Jimmy Bennett); a stowaway (Mia Maestro); and an entrepreneur (Richard Dreyfuss).
A huge tidal wave is coming towards the ship, and although the ships’ captain tries to steer the ship away, it strikes with an impact enough to flip it upside-down. The people that are still alive are stuck in the capsized vessel frantically trying to understand what happened. The movie focuses on the eight survivors struggle upward to exit through the bowels. Otherwise they will all go down with the ship!

The resume sounds good, it's a shame that the critics aren't realy all that pleased about it. I still think that i'll give it a watch that is

It was okay, in my opinion, but I think I liked the original one better. I'd like to watch them both, back to back, and compare.
