After hearing reports of grave robbing, the group of sets out to check on a family grave. Soon after, one-by-one they wander into the murderous clutches of Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen). THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is a frightening classic that possesses an undying power to terrorize audiences again and again. It's ability to truly horrify is so strong that when the movie first opened, some people actually walked out in a state of shock. What Van says: This IS a true classic! "Before Jason, Freddy and Michael, there was Leatherface". This is a movie you can watch over and over only imagining if it was you in the place of the four friends what it would be like to go through such a mad and macabre situation. This movie set standards for HORROR films to come. I really reccomend picking this Pioneer Special Edition DVD up as it comes with so much stuff jam packed into it. What would Van do? DEFINATELY buy this film! It is a TRUE classic! If this is not in your video collection I really suggest heading out the door right now to pick it up. It is something a TRUE HORROR fan must have! Rating: 10 out of 10 “The SAW is family!” View my original review in its entirety. Last edited by Orioli : 09-11-05 at 11:27. | ||

| This is the sickest, most deranged movie I've ever seen! My favorite way to view: home alone on a rainy day, all lights out, munching on some BBQ or KFC. Nearly had a heart attack watching some of the chase sequences.IT's what horror is all about - raw, visceral in-your-face terror that doesn't let you forget. | ||

| This is such a powerful movie illustrating its main foundations geared towards cannibalism, sadistic violence, voodoo, and the like. It is a modern horror movie of the same level with the Exorcist and t Night of the Living Dead. | ||

| This is one that I saw when it came out and haven't seen it since. My kids like the remake well enough, but I don't know if they've seen the original or not. Same with "The Hills have Eyes". Saw the original way back when, haven't bothered with the remake. | ||

| I remember trying to watch this a few times as a kid and then later on when I worked at a video store, but I could never get into it. I don't think I've ever seen it all the way through. Out of the big 4 slashers (Leatherface, Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers), I always liked Jason the best. | ||
