Hands-down... "The Exorcist" is the best horror movie (I believe) It scared me SO much because I believe in possessions. I slept with my crucifix and bible after watching that movie.

It's very certain that "they don't make them like they used to". Horror films today just dont scare me like they did back in the day

YOu're coolnes ...they don't. The Exorcist was excellent. Heck even The Shining was scarier in a real way than films are today. They're all sort of silly now.

Most horror films today just go for the cheap scare of someone jumping out really quick, and the sick factor of trying to think of the most horribly gory thing possible.

My favorite horror film is the 1968 version of "Night of the Living Dead". Watching it is like watching old news footage of a disaster. It's so dark, but everything in it works perfectly.

I gotta say I still think the old old ones like Nosvartu have a mystique that horror movies today are missing.

Wow, you guys thought of some great ones. You are right though they are not made like they used to be anymore. I loved Jack Nicholson in the shining.

Did you know that Stephen King hated that version of the film because of Jack Nicholson's performance? That's one of the reasons he completely backed a remake.

This is such a true statement! It seems that horror movies of today are more like pure gorefests. There is none of the psychology of it that makes it SO terrifying. In, in fact, can't stand the sight of gore and blood. The horror movies that scare me the most don't have much of it.

Another one of my favorites is the original Poltergeist. SO GOOD.
