Clerks

Both to save a discussion in another thread, and to give it's own justified place of discussion I thought it'd be worth making this...

Kevin Smith's first, and in my current opinion best film, created on an initial $28k budget, 'tis proof that you don't necessarily need a budget to make a good film...

I'd say my favourite scene is probably the one when Randal's ordering the videos, just some of the names of the videos are fantastic, I mean a video title referencing a Dexy's Midnight Runners' song's doing pretty well...

Thought I'd resurrect this topic seeing as I bought the 10th anniversary edition of this film over Easter - "Clerks X"...

Fantastic film, and I'd recommend the special edition if you're interested in the process of film making at all, as it contains the original cut that got them the recognition to break out into Hollywood, and a documentary detailing the creation process, which is fascinating in my opinion, and it still shocks me that Smith maxed out $20k of credit cards to fund it...

May review it formally if interest around the place picks up, but anywho, watch it dammit... (and if you're in the UK, import it, I recommend loaded247.com, only £15 for the 3 disc anniversary edition, and great for delivery speed)

Well if you're willing to wait til July 18th, the Region 2 version of the one I imported will be out, at least in the UK, not sure if it'll get a release across on the mainland of Europe, but it'd not be that much P&P I'd think. As I said, I'd recommend seeing the "Snowball Effect" documentary, as it'd probably stand up on it's own as a piece about how the film was made completely independently...
