Constantine - why?

Having just seen this film, I am once again astounded by just how Keanu Reeves appears to be getting worse every film he does. I thought Matrix Revolutions was the low point, but he's managed to top it with this oak forest level of woodenness. He even manages to make Rachel Wiesz' dodgy American accent seem passable by comparison.

It's a shame because the rest of the film has just the right level of daftness to make it enjoyable.

I've not seen the movie but had a discussion with buddies who had 2 nights ago... Basically their feedback was that the movie is excellent but the same cannot be said for Reeves... Maybe Keanu Reeves is over his top since the days of Speed??

That's actually a pretty fair description if I'm honest. I wouldn't describe the film as excellent, but apart from the acting it's not bad at all. Unfortunately the acting is so bad that it totally overshadows everything else...IMO

Yeah, in my opinion Constantine as a concept wasn't a bad idea, the story was suitably dark, but Keanu should leave the role to someone else who can be distinguished from their surroundings when placed in a forest...

Who would you suggest for the role, -G-??
Since we all agree the Keanu is terrible, what kind of movie should Keanu play?

Keanu shouldn't be acting at all. It's as simple as that. If he insists on inflicting himself upon us then maybe some guy who doesn't have to speak or show any emotion. Or possibly sci-fi films as a robot. He may just be able to manage that

I'd be tempted to say Ewan McGregor, to keep with Constantine being from the UK. I've been told Scotland and Liverpool, and haven't looked into it myself to confirm...

I'm sure he could play a tree in something, or even a log, he does have some versatility...

That's a game, so you'll just have to hear him, with computer animation replicating his movement or lack thereof...
