Boy, after the tragedy of U-571 (which rivals Operation Market Garden on the tragedy meter), Das Boot really kicked things up. Gritty, realistic, and goddamn accurate. No "Americans save the entire world from the evil Nazis" crap (especially not in 1942!), but a real look at the life of a German u-boat crew. Why are all the good war movies German? All Quiet on the Western Front, Das Boot, Stalingrad. Those Germans lost the war, but they won the movie war! | ||

| Movie Critic | I really enjoyed that film. Wolfgang Peterson excelled with it.
