High or Low

I have a hard time justifying spending my hard-earned money on low-end movies. I'd rather wait and rent these. I tend to spend my money on high-budget movies that have great reviews.

Yes, the definition of 'low end' is somewhat hazy. If you mean non-mainstream, then yes I watch them especially foreign films. I find the story lines are often better than the blockbusters which have become too formulaic for me most of the time.

I usually don't pay attention to whether it is low end or not. Sometimes the lower budget movies are great.

Yes, I would love to see more foreign films. They stretch the limits of your mind-set and very often have better dialogue or story lines than blockbusters do. The ones I've seen often get four or five stars in my town, like
Water, Live and Become, etc.

We don't tend to go to the theater as often as we'd like, just because the cost of taking a family these days. However, the bigger named films are generally what we go to see, so I'd say we don't go for the low end movies.

The only ones I make a point of seeing are those which interest me and I figure won't make it to cable for a long time ...if ever. They are usually the foreign ones.

I am not sure what is meant by "low-end" movies. Do I enjoy non-mainstream movies? MOST DEFINITELY! We have a theater here in town that shows movies from the Sundance Film Festival and such. Many of these movies are *amazing* and better than the blockbusters.

If low-end means straight-to-video, then no, I don't watch them. I used to though. Sometimes I'll still pick one up if it has a star in it that I like. Mostly I'll only go to the theater for something that I'm sure I'll like. I leave the risks for DVD. Which really makes no sense because I buy my dvd's instead of renting, so I end up paying more than I would if I'd went to the theater to see it. But smarts don't really factor much into my system.

Life is too short for most of the straight to video movies. I'd rather watch a 24/7 news channel for entertainment in that case!

One straight-to-video one that I'm thinking of picking up is "Seraphim Falls", starring Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan. It was supposed to go theaters, but I never saw a release date for it.
