An obvious topic but it had to be done sooner or later...

...so here it is. What is your all time favourite film and why? Mine would probably be Battle Royale (Japan, 2000) with Takeshi Kitano. Not because I'm some weird pscyho who enjoys watching kids kill each other (I'm not honest ) but becuase I liked the way it didn't try to over-dramatise the gore or make it into some horrible fantasy - it's simple, understated and I actually recognise most of the characters as people I know. So there you are.

Battle Royale is a tremendous film, and I agree with you completely in your points on the film, however, my fave film, at least at this point in time, would have to be Clerks...

It's probably because I've done that kind of work myself, and can empathise with what happens, but also the dialogue is sublime, some of the comic riffs created are amazing, especially for a first time effort. I could say a lot more, but it'd be easier to just say "See it"

My all time favourite movies are BraveHeart and The Last of the Mohicans... I don't have a real reason why but watching these movies simply captivated me and my imaginations...

I watched Battle Royale once and did not really like the theme.
The worse class in the whole of Japan are chosen to kill each other on an island...
You see some of the starting to go mad and doing crazy stuff...

The concept is just gross...

Yeah, but in that good way...

It's more about the psychology rather than the violence in a lot of ways, but of course you can't physically see that, only the death and destruction...
