Ocean's Thirteen - Worst Movie Of 2007

My personal vote for worst film of 2007 goes to "Ocean's 13".

90% of the movie is setting up the scam, and then the actual scam turns out to be lame in itself. An incredibly boring film.

I have it in my top three for best of the year. Along with "Transformers" and "Live Free or Die Hard" it was one of the most fun movies I've see all year.

I loved the idea of the scam being done for revenge solely, and how thieves all looked out for one another. They even had enough honor to offer Bank a "Billy Martin" so he could make Rueben his partner again and there'd be no hard feelings.

And moreso in this one than in the first two films, it wasn't just Danny and Rusty doing all the work. Virgil, Turk, Basher, Linus and Yen all had more to do. Frank was really the only person that had a small role.

The way the fooled the Greco was pretty slick, setting up the games for all the other guests to win because they would be genuinely surprised and not be suspicious. And then getting all their own money back when the Greco was shut down from the phony earthquake (admitedly, a reach, but it's easily overlooked while watching it) by betting big when they knew they'd win.

If you want to see the worst movie of 2007, buy a ticket to "The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer".

Well I could get specific and call "Ocean's 13" the most boring and "Fantastic 4: RotSS" the most ridiculous. I have to go over the films I've seen in 2007 again but "Babel" comes to mind as one of the best for this year. "Live Free or Die Hard" was good but somehow not as fun as the other Die-Hard films. I am seeing "Transformers" this Wednesday.

I can understand calling it boring compared to action movies, but comparing it to the previous Ocean's movies, it's right on pace to me. I really want to see it again, but I'll probably wait for the dvd.

Babel came out in October of 2006 if I'm not mistaken. Still haven't seen that one yet.

The most boring movie I've seen this year was "The Good Shepherd". Way overrated.

The most disappointing one was "Shooter". I was hoping for something more, but it was just so...forgetable.

Oh yeah, I forgot about "The Good Shepherd". Make that the worst of the year. It was way more boring than "Ocean's 13". I also felt Jolie was miscast. I like "Ocean's 11" but could not stand Julia Roberts as Julia Robert is "Ocean's 12". That was plain stupid.

I expected "Shooter" to be like a "Rambo: First Blood" for a new generation. It failed miserably.

Yeah, Jolie was really horrible in "The Good Shepherd". She's just to modern to play someone for the 40's...or whenever it took place. I just remember the scene where she walked into the party after finding out that Matt Damon had cheated on her and she had that manly walk of hers and that frown, she looked like she was about to go Tomb Raider on him. The only cool scene in the whole movie was when the girlfriend of their (honestly, very freaky looking) son got thrown out of her plane. But still, I'd like to have those couple hours back.

"Shooter" was just so predictable. It's like they really wanted it to be a franchise for Wahlberg like Damon has with "The Bourne Identity", but it was so paint-by-numbers that nobody cared about it. Plus Wahlberg kept whispering throughout the whole damn movie and Danny Glover had some sort of retainer or something in his mouth and sounded like he had a lisp.

I'll give you the Julia as Julia point. At least it was a short segment. I think that was just thrown in as a reason for them to get Bruce Willis in the movie, since he was originally supposed to be Danny Ocean. I'd rather they had let him play Willie Bank in 13 because I really don't like Al Pacino at all.
