Although I think Helen Mirren did a remarkable job of protraying the Queen, I wasn't sure I cared for the script. Prince Philip came off as a bit silly and Prince Charles came off as more caring and sympathetic to Diana than he seemed in real life. The moment of change in the Queen's attitude seemed too sudden, and I doubt that it really happened after a deer hunt. However, I'm sure it's a delicate subject to make assumptions about since the Queen is still alive and is in a position to refute anything she doesn't like.

I've yet to see this movie, but probably will at some point. I'd be fascinated about the workings inside the royal family at the time of Diana's death. But, if Prince Charles does come across as being that sympathetic, then I'd be disappointed. He was anything but, in my opinion, with all his carrying ons with Camilla.

| I haven't seen it yet, either, but it's one of those ones I sort of want to see. Prince Philip IS silly--in fact, he's quite a big horse's rearend, IMO, and I like Charles well enough. It's hard to know what's going on behind the scenes and that particular class of Englishman is not going to show his real feelings to the general public. I do like Her Majesty. Any princess who fixed trucks during WWII is okay in my books! | ||

| I thought Helen Mirren did an excellent job, but I was somewhat surprised at the script dealing only with the Royal Family during the Diana crisis. That said, there have been several good films about HRH and this script enabled more of an intimate view. My thoughts on James Cromwell playing Prince Phillip. I thought he was completely wrong for the part, and I usually like him. Phillip is something of a horse's ass and Cromwell didn't nail it too well. I think the fact that he isn't British but American kept him from understanding the part. | ||
