Has anyone seen this movie? I have, and let me just say its fabulous! It is true that the concept of aliens taking over the world is overused. Yet, the way the movie presents the takeover is awe-inspiring. Tom Cruise acted very good, as always. The little girl, Dakota Fanning, also was a very good character!  I like the part where the very first alien jumps out of the ground and starts to shoot everything it sees. It was cleverly presented! Last edited by lobo_07 : 09-25-05 at 15:42. | ||

| I am well aware that there is another topic of this similar matter. You dont have to apologize for "thinking it sucks." I am not dissapointed about anything. People are not hurting me because they simply dislike a movie I think is great. Some people might hate this movie, but theres a load of others that love it.

| We have nothing against the actors or actresses in this, and they have done their part really well... just that the script did not look as engaging as it should be. Could be the overly done advertising that got all our hopes up high. | ||

| now i just don't know what to think about the critics of this film! It seems it's a 50/50, some have told me it was great , others that is was crap!O.Wells 'book the War of worlds is amongst one of my all time favorites and i must admit i'm a bit scared of being very disapointed if I either go and see it or buy it and it turns out to realy be crap, over done or that it realy modifies the original story.

 | Well the main problem I had with it was the fact that it had been contemporised. I loved the Victorian era version, because there was that greater sense of futility when it came to trying to fight them, whereas the new one lost that edge, even if the effect for the modern weaponry was the same...
