Wow! is all I can say

From reports that I've seen, Spiderman 3 made in excess of $151MILLION over the weekend. Man, that's a lot of money! I understand it was a very good movie. I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about it.

I have actually heard mixed reviews.

Those who went strictly for pure entertainment value were entertained. However, those who know the comic book story and were wanting the movie to mirror that were VERY disappointed.

I, personally, have never read the comic so I can't comment on how much the movie strayed (especially with the character of Venom, I gather)

For me, the TRUE test is how a movie does in the following weeks. The first weekend, people go for the hype. After that, people go or don't go based upon what others thought. So, to me, those are the true numbers to show how good a movie is.

You're right, Stephanie. The weeks following the opening really do tell a lot about what caliber the movie was. Around here, everyone I've spoken to has really liked it. I'll reserve judgment until I can see it for myself.

I've heard mostly negative reviews from people, but I'll wait to see it myself before I take a stance on it, much like the first two.

I haven't heard a whole lot yet on this movie. I have a feeling though that it will do good even after the opening weekend's showing. So many have been waiting on it I just feel that they will want to see it to see if they feel it is good.

We did go opening weekend. Hubs and little guy were so psyched to see it. We went to an early showing and were really glad we did. The 7 o'clock showing was lines out the door. But, honestly I'm with the disappointed crowd. There was too much going on. Too many characters and not enough screentime for any of them. Sandman could've been utilized better in another movie. And pairing Harry and Spidey together was great! I loved seeing the best friends work as a team! Venom didn't have much to do and Toper Grace was useless in this movie. This one movie could've been broken up into two.

I was actually kind of surprised to see it get bumped by Shrek 3. I just didn't foresee this happening the second week it was out.

Well, tater, if Shrek hadn't I'm sure that Pirates of the Caribbean would have when it opens this weekend. I can't wait!!

We still haven't watched Spiderman3, but from everything I've heard, I feel like I've already seen it. I know what happens throughout!

I saw it and I thought it was great. But then I'm a MOVIE fan, not a comic fan. I think that probable makes a difference.
