Has American Idol Critic--Simon--gone too far?

I have watched some of this year's American Idol episodes, and I have heard Simon make extremely rude comments. For example, he asked "Do we need a bigger stage" when an overweight contestant was singing. I don't think he should be criticizing the physical aspects of the participants, but rather do his only one task---commenting on the SINGING.

What do you guys think?

Nope, I think he is doing just fine. The only reason that I watch American Idol is for the first few episodes, so I can see the people sucking. If I can get some more laughs, for whatever reason, I'll take them.

Same here The most interesting parts are those in the starting where a lot of people are trying out and how horrible they were.
Some were so horrible that they became famous!

I must say that some people waste their times going there....If they know they can't sing why do they go to the auditions? Perhaps its to be able to show themselves in television.....but big deal...why make a fool of yourself on national t.v.?? I find it soo foolish...

Some "fools" actually made it
But that was just once...
Then again, I remembered that there was a time when someone went in a bear suit! It knocked me off my seat when I saw that one.

You know what I think? I think people like getting criticized by Simon, I know I would like it. I mean, it's an honor to be insulted by him, sure, it means you are a great singer if you are applauded by him, but to be insulted, that is great.

I'm pretty sure there was a pre screening process except that it was a bit lax. Or maybe a deliberate move to turn the program into a comedy where applicants make a fool of themselves in front of the camera.

Getting ridiculed is part of the contest. What matters is how the contestant can handle such thing and turn it to his or her own advantage. I think Simon is just doing fine.
