Hey Everyone, My name is Chris and I am the Founder of SwitchDiscs.com. First I would like to thank Matt for adding SwitchDiscs as one of the "DVD Trading Sites" that can be discussed here. I think open forums like these are great ways to exchange ideas/brainstorm, improve services, get feedback good or bad and most importantly bridge the gap between members and us “management types”. I've been busy trying to get caught up on all the great discussions going on about our site as well as peerflix. We still have a lot to learn and improve on so the input from this forum as well as our own will be beneficial to future additions and improvements to SwitchDiscs. I'm happy to say that some of the concerns about SD’s made by members here are already being addressed in our next release, SD v2.0, that should be up and running by June 06. A couple improvements/additions include an automated switching process, a more accurate pricing model for discs (for those who think the current prices are inflated), simpler adding discs to "have/wish lists" method, more disc search options, a much MUCH FASTER site with improved design and coding and much more. I'm excited about the v2.0 release but I'm already getting excited about the versions to come after that. Now I would like to open the floor for you guys to ask questions or discuss things you like or dislike about SwitchDiscs. I will login every night and do my best to provide answers or possible solutions. If you have something that you think would improve the site there is a good chance we will make it happen. Most of the improvements in v2.0 are thanks to the feedback made by SD members on our SD Forum. I look forward to future dialogue with the DVDTradeTalk Community. cheers, Chris | ||

| The only thing that really turns me off SD is the inflated bux prices. Fix that and i'd be willing to try it out. I mean if i can buy something with cash for the same equivalant bux i'd rather do that. Say used from amazon or something. Because(and correct me if i'm wrong) just requesting a disc dosen't mean you will get it for certain, they have to actually commit to sending it. I know from using peerflix that requesting something that someone has dosen't mean for certain they'll send it anytime soon. Where as if i buy it used on amazon i would feel pretty sure i'd have it sent to me ASAP.Thats just a much faster way of getting it for essentially the same price. Instead of having to wait for my titles to be requested. On the other hand if trading for it on SD was the better deal i'd be more willing to go that route. Its all about getting the best deal. | ||

| Thanks for taking the time to be here. Those of us who aren't yet convinced about the site will be watching and waiting for the 2.0 release to hopefully fix the issues we've mentioned and draw in the crowds that will make it a feasible option.

| Switchdiscs doesn't provide any mailers but they do recommend certain ones. I guess she is just referring to the mailers members use? The mailers of choice at switchdiscs are bubble mailers when sending the case and the thick paperboard mailers when sending just the disc or the disc+artwork with the disc in a paper sleeve too for added protection. On the help page they say to use these ones: Paperboard Mailers I use a 6" x 9" white envelope that I can print the addresses on and then put the disc in a plastic protective clam shell case and slip that along with the artwork in the one envelope. That has worked pretty well for me. I also use the paperboard mailers and have labels for the addresses. Both work great because they fit the artwork without having to fold it across the artwork itself.

Hi Chris, I would recommend adding a column on the My Discs page and My WishList page for Switchbucs value. This would make it easier to manage those lists. Also, when pricing my new discs, I would appreciate info on if there are other discs in the system, and if so, what those discs are priced at. Thanks.

| Hey ae.boehm, In regards to the SB values on the "My Discs" and "Wish List" pages. Another active switcher requested this same thing on our Forum and we should have it implemented in v2.0. There will also be some other "organizational" features to help members find what they are looking for or just keep a nicely organized list of discs they have and discs they want. I’m really excited about these upgrades myself because both the Have & Wish Lists will not only be great for switching but also a great tool to keep everyone’s media collection organized. We are removing the ability for members to set their own price for discs so your second suggestion will no longer be needed. You will still be able to see the current price for the discs you add so you can see what your discs are worth. We had to make this change so we can "automate" the switching process a little more. Also, it could become pretty cumbersome to track the prices of your discs if you own A LOT of discs like some of our members do...I know I don’t want to keep track of the prices of hundreds of discs I own. thanks, Chris

| Appreciate the feedback. I admit, if the economy of SwitchDiscs were fixed, it would become much more attractive.
