Who else uses Blockbuster?

I had been with netflix for years until i finally got sick of they're throttling and getting what i felt was less than i deserved.I never got more than three a week from netflix while others not far from me got more. I switched to blockbuster because of the free in store coupon every week.I still only get 3 from blockbuster too but with the free coupon i get an extra from the local store.

I've used Blockbuster online in the past.

-If one of their rental outlets was closer to me, it would make a difference(I'd be more apt to use them, if I could use the in-store coupons). The closest one is about 45 miles from me - in a direction that I rarely travel.

-They were very bad about how they mailed out TV sets. Would send disc #4, #5, and/or #6 way before they sent the first ones. Having said that, I always got new releases from them way quicker than I would with Netflix.

Since 80% or more of the rentals I get are TV on DVD titles and I really don't mind waiting on new realeases, I probably won't use them again.

When their discs were sent to me from the closest DC, the turn-around times were equal to Netflix's closest DC.

I've been thinking of trying on of their free trials, sometimes they offer a 1 month trial.

My Experience

I did the trial service for Blockbuster Online. I liked it quite a bit. I would probably only subscribe to it when I didn't have anything else to do, as I always had more movies than I could watch. Turn around time seemed very quick and we often would get new releases on the day of.

I don't watch series much, so I didn't have much of a problem there. The few I did, I was able to stagger them so that they arrived at the right time.

I would probably use them again if I wanted that many movies at once. Last time we got it, we were expecting our 3rd child, so we got it for the recovery period. It was worth it for that.

However, I think their prices increased since then.

I was looking at a site recomended in a review called intelliflix.com. As far as selection goes they suck,BB and netflix both have them beat. However they also rent games so if you like to do a bit of both it might be a good idea. Personally i'd rather keep BB and get a gamefly subscription too.

If you live close to a Blockbuster why wouldn't you go with them over netflix? That free in store rental thing seems like a pretty good deal.

I still haven't tried BBO, but my friend switched from BBO to Netflix and has stayed with Netflix. He got more scratched discs from BBO, turn around times weren't quite as fast with BBO, and he seldom used the coupons.

I used BlockBuster online when it was first released and it was not too bad. They had trouble with sending me the Voyager Season 6 set, their catalog listing was messed up and didn't understand that two discs were duplicates and disc 4 was missing. I finally gave up trying to explain and got it from Netflix. Other than that, delivery times were horrible then, but they only had a few centers at the time (just like Wal-Mart when they originally launched their service). The two free in-store rentals were worth sticking it out a few months but I eventually dropped it in favor of Netflix.

Its alot better now.Delivery times are about the same as netflix. The only thing i don't like is that they don't stick to your que very strictly. They'll send things out of order sometimes. Other than that i like it,i get an extra disc a week from the store that i couldn't get from netflix.

I've used Blockbuster on-line for about a year and a half, and aside from the occasional cracked disc (which they replaced promptly), have no complaints. I've got a well stocked store about 1/2 mile from me, so the 2 free in-store rentals they offer every month makes the math work out very well. On-line, I've been able to receive & watch some really recondite classical musicians from the '50s, nothing that'll ever be traded, but not stuff I want to be paying 30-40 to purchase.

color me amused, I've done well by them.
